Top 10 Spanish series on Netflix in 2023

These episodes are wonderful for Spanish language learners, but they're also entirely bingeable whether or not you're brushing up on your espaol.

Prepare to flip on your subtitles and watch some amazing Spanish programs on Netflix, with genres spanning from historical drama to heist thriller to comedy and beyond.

We specify where these Spanish TV episodes were made in our descriptions since, just as you'll hear distinct French accents in the finest French movies and French series on Netflix, there are numerous variations of Spanish. There is a significant difference, for example, between Spanish spoken in Latin America and Spanish spoken in Spain.

All of these shows are currently accessible on Netflix in the United States and the United Kingdom.

  •  10 -  La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) – 5 seasons

This crime heist show is a Netflix original that was so popular from the start that it was renewed nearly quickly. They even developed a documentary on its success, as well as a docuseries about the creators and actors, as well as a Korean version. It's one of the finest Spanish series on Netflix, period, and it's getting a sixth season.

Genre : Thriller, Heist, Crime .
Year :  2017 - present
Country : Spain

  •  9 - Control Z – 3 seasons

While 67% may not appear to be a stellar critical score, this adolescent drama about a hacker tormenting a high school in Mexico by releasing student secrets is a lot of fun for genre aficionados (which is presumably why it has an audience score of 83%!).

Sofa Herrera, an introverted, extremely observant kid, has something to conceal, so she teams up with the attractive new boy at school to figure out who the hacker is before her secrets are revealed.

Genre : Teen Drama
Year :  2020-2022
Country : Mexico

  •  8 - Galerías Velvet (Velvet) – 4 seasons

While one of the most popular Spanish dramas on Netflix, Gran Hotel, was removed from the platform in 2021, lovers of the series may still enjoy a variety of historical dramas filled with romance. Galeras Velvet, a series developed by Ramón Campos and Gema R. Mara and produced by Bamb Producciones, is possibly the most renowned example.

While the series has been eclipsed by the success of Gran Hotel, it is a rich period piece with enough of drama and stunning costuming to appreciate.

Galeras Velvet is a love story set at a Spanish fashion firm in the late 1950s, in which the heir falls in love with a gorgeous seamstress. It also had a spinoff series, Velvet Colleción, which lasted two seasons and was adapted into a film.

Genre : Period Drama
Year :  2013-2016
Country : Spain

  • 7- La Reina del Flow (The Queen of Flow) – 2 seasons

This incredibly bingeable drama series follows a great musician who, after 17 years of unjust incarceration, is granted the opportunity to walk free by cooperating with authorities to bring down the guy who framed her and murdered her family. She goes undercover as Tammy, a music producer, to join the inner circle of the now-renowned reggaeton singer-slash-murderer who became famous through her songs.

Genre : Telenovela, Music
Year :  2018
Country : Colombia

  • 6- Club De Cuervos (Club Of Crows)

In this drama, a dysfunctional brother-sister siblings pair is put in control of a soccer squad, and a power struggle follows. Club de Cuervos is one of the few Spanish-language television shows that employs sardonic and dry current comedy. Irreverent, yet also complex, hilarious, and unforgettable. (This was one of those programs that I dismissed at first, but later completely embraced. The first episode is extremely explicit, but it becomes less so as the series progresses.)

Genre : Comedy - Drama - Sports
Year :  2015-2019
Country : Mexico

  • 5- Elite

Three scholarship kids begin their first year at an elite Spanish school attended by pupils from Spain's richest households. We shortly learn that one of the cops is looking into a student murder, and each episode is presented as a flashback. (Although this series has a lot of potential as it covers race, class, and religion, I was put off by the depiction of graphic scenarios these ostensibly adolescent characters are in. TV-MA, for sure.)

Genre : Thriller - Drama
Year :  2018
Country : Spain

  • 4- Someone Has To Die

This Netflix limited-series drama has an all-star ensemble and is set in 1950s Spain during the Franco government. Gabino Falcón returns to Spain after residing in Mexico for ten years, hoping to find someone to marry. He surprises his family and town, however, when he arrives accompanied by a famous male ballet dancer.

Genre : Thriller
Year :  2020

  • 3- Narcos

An essay on Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar's criminal activities, as well as the many other famous drug figures that have plagued the country over the years.

Genre : Crime -  drama -Biographical
Year :  2015 - 2017
Country : Mexico

  • 2- Monarca

Ana Mara returns to Mexico after a 20-year absence to compete for control of her family's tequila company, which is on the verge of collapsing due to corruption and secrets.

Monarca first gained attention due to its production by Salma Hayek's business Ventanarosa, but it has established a following, with its second season set to premiere in January 2021. The show chronicles the family of a rich tequila mogul who operates in a shady environment. Consider the film Succession in Mexico City.

Genre : Drama
Year :  2019 - 2021
Country : Mexico

  • 1- Hache

Helena becomes entangled in the heroin trade in a desperate attempt to hire a lawyer and assist her husband get out of jail in 1960s Barcelona, as she is forced to seek aid from an unstable, violent gangster--and begins a cat and mouse game with police herself. Be aware that, while this is well-produced and features an amazing lead performer, it is very gritty and contains more than one frightening moment.
